CD Projekt RED is reassuring about the current state of Cyberpunk 2077. According to Polish studio boss Adam Kiciński, the level of performance and stability of the game is “satisfactory” today. Not sure, however, that this statement concerns the PS4 and Xbox One versions, which are still painful to see.
After a catastrophic launch at the end of 2020, CD Projekt RED continues to work hard to give a new face to Cyberpunk 2077, still well, well swollen today. Of course, most of the work is on the old-gen versions of the title, which for now is still unplayable on PS4 according to Sony’s own confession.
If the developers of the Polish studio are therefore going through the hours to repair Cyberpunk 2077, the CEO of CD Projekt RED Adam Kiciński is responsible for reassuring the public during his various interventions. As reported by our colleagues from the British site VGC, the big boss looked back at the current state of the game at WSE Innovation Day, a conference dedicated to bringing together institutional investors and players in video games and new technologies.
Cyberpunk Reaches “Satisfactory” Performance Level According to CD Projekt
Thus, Adam Kiciński is confident and assures that Cyberpunk 2077 has reached a “satisfactory level of performance ”. He pursues : “We have also worked on improving the overall quality of the game, which we are also happy with. Of course, we’ve removed bugs and other visual issues as well, and we’ll continue to do so. Over time, we will also incorporate improvements to the general game system that players have requested ”.
He recalls in passing that the 600 members of CD Projekt RED are working to ensure that the fixes are linked on the different platforms, and to offer as promised the optimized versions of Cyberpunk 2077 for PS5 and Xbox Series X by the end of 2021. The fact remains that this improvement in performance touted by the CEO was achieved in detriment of developers’ ambitions, at least on the PS4 and Xbox One versions.
Indeed, after the deployment of patch 1.23 on PS4, many players have noticed on Reddit and on other forums the sudden absence of many NPCs (editor’s note: non-player characters) in the town of Night City. While the megalopolis already seemed quite empty on old-gen consoles, the situation worsened, in favor of better stability and better overall performance. A choice which obviously is not to the taste of all players.
