How to turn your Android phone into a VLC remote
VLC is one of the most popular video players, offering a solid and customizable option for those who don’t want to stick to a computer’s default setting. However, one thing that prevents VLC from being a complete movie viewing experience is that you have to lean on your computer to use it. Well, not with an Android remote app that you don’t!
In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to turn your Android phone into a VLC remote with a great little app.
ObserveA: We present it on a computer, but the application also works for Mac users.
Configure the VLC mobile application
First, download VLC mobile phone application from the game store. The app is not made by VLC and is unofficial, but it works as well as it could.
Click “All” in the “Show Settings” box in the lower left corner of the Settings window, click “User Interface -> Main Interfaces” in the left pane, and check the “Network” box.
Remove the main interfaces in the left pane, click Lua, and then type the password of your choice in the Lua HTTP box. Lua files are plug-ins for VLC, and setting a password here allows you to attach plug-ins that connect remotely to VLC (e.g., via W-Fi), which VLC Mobile Remote does.
