OnePlus has just announced on its blog a new update for the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 pro. This OxygenOS 11.2.5.5 update is essentially an incremental update, mostly containing improvements and fixes. OxygenOS 11.2.5.5 does not a priori bring any new functionality.

The release notes do provide some interesting details, however. First, in addition to the endless improvements in stability and performance, we move on to the Android security bulletin of May 2021 – bulletin that addresses some critical Qualcomm security vulnerabilities – without however correcting to our knowledge the serious security vulnerability CVE-2020-11292 which affects 40% of Android smartphones.

The update also improves performance when recharging and fixes a latency issue on the keyboard. On the photo side, OnePlus announces improvements to the HDR effect on some shots, as well as an improvement in white balance on the main photo sensor module.

Finally, OnePlus announces network stability improvements, and WiFi connection performance improvements. Unfortunately, as we can read on the forums of the firm, the update does not correct the overheating problems observed by some users. The firm seems to advise sometimes to recalibrate the load and sometimes to restore the factory settings without this seeming to have the slightest effect.

According to user feedback, overheating issues occur after opening the photo app. For the rest, the update weighs 120 MB in total. It is delivered as always in OTA. To install it, you just have to go to the settings> system update. If the update is available you can start its installation from this screen.
